ENROLLMENT FOR FALL 2024 OPENS AUGUST & CLASSES START OCTOBER 14TH!
The Jazz Exchange Academy, created by The Jazz Exchange, is a program designed to transform young musicians aged 11-18. We aim to empower and educate them through music education classes, including improvisation, music theory, small ensemble, and big band. Jazz is the ultimate platform for young individuals to transform into community leaders and global citizens. It empowers them to discover their distinctive voice both on and off the stage, even after they leave The Jazz Exchange Academy. Through partnerships with community mentors and alumni, our program enables the next generation to establish valuable connections, seize opportunities, and thrive in the arts and other diverse fields beyond just performing music on stage.
AUDITION GUIDELINES + SUBMISSION INFORMATION
All auditions will be submitted via YouTube. Students MUST download and carefully read the 2024-25 guidelines and audition materials for each instrument. Returning and new students must all submit an audition video for placement.
THE AUDITION VIDEO DEADLINE FOR THE FALL SEMESTER IS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11TH!
After AUDITION VIDEOS are submitted, students will receive an email with their class placements, dates, and times. Students are placed into ensembles based on experience level. This email will come a few days after submitting their audition videos. Once students have received their placement email parents can then register the student for the class assigned to them.

Combo Classes
Work with a small ensemble to master jazz repertoire, enhance your improvisation, understand your role in a small ensemble, and build your music theory skills. Perform at community events to gain gig experience and learn the essentials of preparing for a professional music career. This is your chance to grow as a musician and experience the dynamic world of jazz performance and culture!
Big Band Classes
Our Big Band Classes dive into the excitement of big band music! Connect with fellow musicians from various schools as you learn, play, and perform this classic American art form. Explore big band repertoire, sharpen your improvisation skills, and showcase your talent at the end-of-year concerts and special events. If you're ready to elevate your musicianship, these classes are perfect for you!
Community Concerts
Students will dive deep into jazz music and have the chance to showcase their talents by performing at local gigs, providing valuable real-world experience, learning jazz repertoire, and learning how to become a professional performing musician, and playing and connecting with their community.
Jazz Beyond Fronteras
Program
Dedicated students aspiring to pursue a career in jazz will be selected from our Jazz Academy Program to represent El Paso in a two-week summer workshop with Jazz House Kids in Montclair, New Jersey, and to perform in New York City and at the Montclair Jazz Festival.

Tuition Plans
Our Jazz Academy Program offers flexible tuition options to accommodate different needs. You can choose to enroll for the full year, which provides the most comprehensive experience and the best value, or opt for semester-based enrollment if that better suits your schedule. Full-year tuition covers all classes, performances, and special events, ensuring you get the most out of the program. Semester tuition offers the same high-quality instruction and opportunities but on a shorter timeline. Payment plan options are available to make the program accessible for all students. Detailed information on tuition and payment plans will be provided once class registration opens.

Combos will be able to perform in more of our community and special events throughout the calendar year. Big Bands will be invited to special events throughout the year. More dates are coming soon!

All options require the following to register:

$100 deposit for Combo or Big Band (to be applied to the registrant’s tuition upon placement)

$50 Registration Fee (to be applied towards tuition fee)

Please note that you will only be paying $150 or $200 upfront to register and the rest can be made in payments.
*Nonrefundable and nontransferable deposit and Registration Fee.
The deposit will confirm students' participation. Students will attend the designated time of the class and details and a welcome packet will be sent via email and a hardcopy will be given on the first day of classes.
