Who Are We
The Jazz Exchange is a local El Paso–based nonprofit dedicated to building community through music. Founded by jazz vocalist Candice Reyes and led artistically by saxophonist Abel Mireles, our mission is to create meaningful musical experiences that bring students together, foster creativity, and inspire growth.

We provide a supportive and engaging environment where young musicians—whether beginners or more experienced players—can learn to play an instrument, build confidence, and express themselves. Through ensemble-based learning, students explore rhythm, improvisation, and teamwork while developing strong musical foundations. Our programs go beyond the classroom, offering performance opportunities and real-world experiences that help students thrive both on and off the stage.
New for Fall 2026, The Jazz Exchange is excited to collaborate with Loretto Academy to launch an in-school, after-school band program for their students. More details and information will be shared soon.

The Jazz Exchange is excited to announce Early Registration for our upcoming Loretto Academy Program! Students interested in joining this year's program are encouraged to register during the early registration period to reserve their spot before general enrollment begins.

Instruments Needed
The Loretto Academy In-School Jazz Program is currently seeking students interested in learning or continuing to play the following instruments for the Fall 2026 – Spring 2027 school year:

🎷 Alto/ Tenor Saxophone
🎶 Clarinet
🪈 Flute
🎺 Trumpet
🎼 Trombone
🎸 Electric Guitar
🎸 Electric/Acoustic Bass
🎹 Piano

No prior jazz experience is required—students with previous band experience or those interested in developing their musical skills are encouraged to participate.

If you are unsure which instrument is the best fit, The Jazz Exchange is happy to help guide you in selecting one based on your interests.
RENT AN INSTRUMENT
The Jazz Exchange is proud to partner with Olivas Music, a locally owned and operated music store, to provide quality instrument rental options for students enrolled in the Loretto Academy In-School Jazz Program (Fall 2026 – Spring 2027).

Students who need to rent an instrument are encouraged to visit Olivas Music to explore available instruments, rental rates, and flexible payment plan options. Their knowledgeable staff can help you find the right instrument and rental plan to fit your needs.
